Summer Appeal

Summer vacation is here and so is the pinch on Charity Guild families with children. Every Brockton schoolchild is entitled to a free lunch at school and most enjoy a free breakfast as well. But summer is another story.

“During the summer it is harder to make ends meet because school is out,” says the mother of a busy rising sophomore at Brockton High School. “When kids are home from school they seem to be hungry all the time. I try to shop wisely like buying fruit when it is ‘buy one, get one free’ and freezing one to make smoothies with. But that only takes you so far.”

“It is very important to me,” she continued, “that programs like The Charity Guild exist to help parents supply kids with meals throughout the summer.”

Project Bread says only 1 out of 7 children who really need summer meals are getting them. And The Charity Guild is working hard to bridge the gap.

Your contribution to our Summer Appeal will help The Guild pay for the food that kids need during the summer. Your response before Sept. 4, Labor Day, will be much appreciated.

We can’t do it without you!
