About

Committed to Our Community

In 2023, 36% of Plymouth County households reported food insecurity. The Charity Guild is a food pantry in Brockton, MA that provides fresh, nutritious food to 2,000 neighbors every month. We operate two food pantry locations—Main Street in downtown Brockton and inside Brockton High School—and provide home deliveries to seniors.

Founded in 1971 by a group of caring individuals, The Charity Guild has served the Greater Brockton community for 50+ years. Our mission remains the same: “To provide basic and necessary services to those unable to meet their primary needs of food, clothing, and household goods.” We cater to clients’ specific needs and adjust orders to suit families with children, senior citizens, those with dietary restrictions, those who are homebound, those experiencing homelessness and those who may be temporarily displaced.

In September 2020, our food storage capacity was expanded by 75% with the help of funding from the Brockton Redevelopment Authority (BRA). This could not have come at a more critical time. When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, food pantry client numbers dramatically increased, and high grocery prices have continued ever since.

Partnerships

Our gateway city of Brockton, MA is home to more than 105,000 residents. According to the 2020 US Census, nearly 15% of residents live in poverty. This means that there are more than 16,000 members of our community in need of help and resources.

We partner with many local human service organizations to improve the overall health and wellbeing of our neighbors, which food insecurity contributes to but is not the only factor.

We are a proud member of the Brockton Area Hunger Network and share resources with other local food pantries to serve our neighbors to the best of our collective abilities.
