Food Programs

What We Do

The Charity Guild operates two food pantries, located on Main Street in Brockton, MA and inside Brockton High School, and a home food delivery program for seniors and those who are homebound. We believe that food is love, and that to feel nourished is to feel cared for. Food brings love, comfort, and possibility.

In Plymouth County, 36% of households reported experiencing food insecurity in 2023. A minor change of circumstances, like an unexpected medical bill, could force families to make an impossible choice between paying their bills and feeding their children.

We do not have a Brockton residency requirement; all are welcome.

In January, The Charity Guild distributed 4,000 apples through all of our food programs!

In addition to weekly deliveries from the food bank, we rescue and purchase fresh produce from local markets, ensuring healthy and fresh food is always available.

Home Delivery Program

How We Work

For senior citizens and homebound neighbors who are unable to visit our walk-up food pantry, we offer limited home delivery services. Neighbors can request deliveries or get referred by Brockton Housing Authority and other partners. Clients enjoy the visit from volunteer delivery drivers as well as the food itself.

We currently have a wait list for home delivery services.

“I had to give up my license last year. I have to depend on somebody to bring me to the store. I have trouble seeing in the store, so when the Guild comes like this, it’s good.”

Brockton Area Hunger Network

Cooperative Intake Program

In 2020, The Charity Guild was invited by the City of Brockton to propose an innovative cross-agency program to unify the client intake processes of local food pantries. This coordination provides a deeper understanding of food insecurity in Brockton, an issue that no single agency can tackle alone.

With member agencies using a shared intake system, we have streamlined the process of receiving food, significantly reducing wait times, better connecting neighbors to local food programs, and giving community members more time for their daily needs.

Member agencies:

At the time of its creation in 2020, Brockton Area Hunger Network’s Cooperative Intake Program was initially supported with grant funding from Beth Israel Lahey Health. In March 2024, the initiative received a grant from Liberty Mutual Foundation, administered equally among BAHN partner agencies by The Charity Guild. We’re so grateful these organizations understand the importance of supporting a unified intake system to have a full understanding of the scope of food insecurity in our community.
